About George
As a boy growing up in Apalachicola and on St. George Island, George spent his days fishing, swimming and dune surfing (sliding down sand dunes on pieces of cardboard) leaving him with a love of the Gulf of Mexico and the white sandy beaches of the Sunshine State. By age 10 he was listening to and hooked on the musical favorites of his siblings. As a teen, his influences varied and he was driven by his love of the great harmonies of the country-rock band The Eagles. Other artists that inspired and influenced him initially are Alabama, The Charlie Daniels Band, Hank Williams Jr., Don Williams, Waylon Jennings and David Allan Coe. His music reflects these influences and his traditional rural coastal raising, bringing a heartfelt rustic sound to his vocal delivery.
George’s early adolescence and adulthood were spent much the same as everyone else working at an early age, marrying and raising a family. Always singing or humming any one of his favorite tunes, his dream was shelved to make way for reality and responsibilities. After an eye-opening auto accident in late 2006, the realization that he might not ever fulfill his dream spurred him to write his first original song "Right Before My Eyes". With the support and encouragement of his family, he made the decision to change his career and is now fulfilling that dream full time.
After diving into music in early 2007, Montgomery Gentry, Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, Trent Tomlinson and Ray Scott instantly set a precedent for his aspiration. To emulate the soulful rock sound of the New Country radio became his goal. George’s first solo live performance was in Hudson Beach, FL on June 20, 2007. Since that date, George performs regularly in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties. He has been featured at the Hernando County Fair (Brooksville, FL), North Florida Fair (Tallahassee, FL) and Lee County Fair (Ft. Myers, FL).
Recently, George opened for Big Kenny of Big and Rich fame, and has performed at Charliepalooza (The Angelus Fundraiser in Tampa during December).
Songwriting is a new branch in George’s career. As a member of both The Nashville Songwriters Association International and BMI since early 2008, George is currently working with other writers in Nashville and Atlanta in an effort to create new music that will appeal to many, while holding true to his background.
George released his CD entitled ‘I'm The Guy' in June of 2010, which is comprised largely of his first real attempts at songwriting. It was recieved well and given a good review by Nashville Music News. His new single "Four Right Turns" is available as well as the CD on Itunes and many other digital retailers.
His new single, "Four Right Turns" was released on June 1, 2013 to Country Radio nationwide and overseas. It, like the CD, is available on ITunes.
